The high point in this published series was FY 2010, when the table lists 3,450 total Ohio charge receipts. The low point was FY 2020, with 2,130. The difference between years is descriptive data from the EEOC’s state table; it does not prove that workplace discrimination increased or decreased, and it does not measure case outcomes.
What these figures do and do not show
A charge receipt is an allegation filed with the EEOC. It is not a finding that an employer violated the law, a court judgment, a settlement, or an award. A charge may list more than one alleged basis, so readers should not add charge-basis counts together to reconstruct the total-charge count.
